Screw Hole Studs
Due to the nature of wood grain and how easy it can be to split, it’s not normally a good idea to attempt to drill and resin studs or strips. The most effective way of affixing tactile strips and studs is to get a model of a stud or strip with a screw hole. This makes for a fast and easy fitting process with a limited chance of splitting or damaging the wooden surface.
It’s best practice to never fit studs or strips when the wood is wet or damp, as the wood will have absorbed some amount of moisture, especially if aged or untreated. Proceeding to fit may cause the wood to churn when the screw goes in and not create a solid grip for the screw. Also, once the water being retained is lost and the wood shrinks, you may be left with a less-than-perfect fit and cracks in the surface.
